Essential Responsibilities
• Responsible for Overseeing and Launching new and takeover dies that meet all production requirements at build shop and at Home line press for Tandem lines, Transfer lines and progressive lines. Work closely with the tool and die department to monitor production lines for process improvements, blank / material utilization and root cause and corrective actions methods
Primary Objectives
• Follow processes for parts within cost & quality targets & takes through to production
• Follows simulation guidelines & die design standards
• Make detailed studies & provide recommendations for solving process issues
• Works with senior / engineers, product design to solve feasibility issues
• Works with dimensional quality engineer to ensure targets are met cost & quality
• Works with vendors performing die design reviews ensuring performance targets are met.
• Complete understanding of stamping part tolerances and GD&T.
• Support development of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for production dies to identify critical risks and develop appropriate control plans (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
• Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
• Continuous improvement development for Tool & Die maintenance team.
• Perform root cause analysis studies to reduce breakdown occurrences.
• Lead implementation of DMR requests to improve dimensional quality of parts.
• Lead implementation of Engineering changes including creating scope of work and execution plan.
• Participate in identifying and improving of Tool & Die standards.
• Perform home line trials ensuring all issues are noted and follow up to completion.
• Perform dimensional analysis; perform corrective actions to improve dimensional capability.
• Other duties assigned as needed for Tooling department
Requirements
• Understanding of stamping processes & die design is required
• User understands material properties for steel & aluminum
• 5+ Years As a tool and die maker
• 2+ Years of simulation / die design experience preferred in class ‘A’ parts, aluminum & steel
• User is able to perform 3-D modeling and surfacing
• User will utilize proven design methodologies
• User must be willing to adapt to and/or learn new design practices.
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
