Job Title: Mill Crane Operator
Location: Lauren, SC
Industry: Steel Manufacturing
Status of Hire: direct placement; permanent
Pay: $22-$25
Hours: 1st shift – 6:00am-2:30pm Monday - Friday
For our Steel Manufacturing / Machining company in Laurens, SC, TRS Craft Services is looking for a competent Mill Crane Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Transfer finished bundles to designated warehouse locations.
- Operate overhead and Dual Trolley cranes to support tube mill operations.
- Offload the mill packaging line.
- Scan bundles to ensure accurate placement in warehouse locations.
- Conduct daily inspections of crane equipment.
- Assist with changeovers by removing and replacing mill bases using overhead cranes.
- Handle mills scrap by removing, banding, weighing, tagging, and storing it appropriately.
- Load scrap bundles onto trucks and empty mill chopped scrap hopper.
- Follow verbal and/or written instructions and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs.
- Support other operators during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime.
- Report any irregularities or malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
- Train others on Mill Crane Operator responsibilities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. completion of military service is considered equivalent to a 2-year degree.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull, with the flexibility to reach in all directions.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods to cover 10–12-hour shifts.
- Commitment to regular, full-time, and predictable onsite attendance.
- Leadership skills in promoting health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
- Willingness to relocate for qualified applicants.

**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and physical to be eligible for hire (physical will include respirator fitting)
