Position Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Location: Moncks Corner, SC
Reports To: Foreman / Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of heavy construction equipment to support underground utility and site preparation projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multiple types of equipment and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes to move earth, rock, or other materials.
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic preventative maintenance (fueling, lubrication, safety checks).
- Follow site plans, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment around ground crews, utilities, and other job site hazards.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite.
- Report equipment issues or malfunctions to maintenance or supervisors immediately.
- Support crew members with general labor duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in construction or utility work (water/sewer preferred).
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe trenching/excavation practices.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes, site drawings, and layouts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to perform manual labor in addition to equipment operation.
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
- Comfort working in trenches, uneven terrain, and noisy environments.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment controls with precision.
