Position Overview
This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC mill or lathe machines to produce components according to precise specifications. The position is an individual contributor role and works under close supervision. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC-controlled metal-cutting machines including turning lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, and saws for various materials.
- Perform setups, first article layouts, and execute work based on product specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Inspect materials and components to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Safely operate tools and machinery; report unsafe conditions or acts immediately.
- Accurately manage inventory transactions and production reporting.
- Complete inspection documentation and apply required markings and tags.
- Use enterprise systems to complete work orders, manage inventory, and review material requirements.
- Perform daily equipment maintenance checks.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
- Location: Houston, TX and surrounding areas
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM; daily overtime likely; occasional weekend work
- Climate-controlled warehouse with standing workstations; physical work required
- Computer assigned for job-related tasks
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of CNC machinist experience or a 2-year degree in Machining Technology
- Ability to operate machining equipment independently and meet quality/productivity standards
- Understanding of M-Code and G-Code programming
- Proficient in using email and computer systems for communication and task execution
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
- Forklift and pallet jack experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Professional, positive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems
- Familiarity with Middleware and Quality Management Systems
- Forklift certification
- CNC Machining trade school certification
