Hiring in the Greenville, SC Area

Job requires Traveling to job sites in Upstate and Charlotte (Mon-Thurs)

Per Diem: We cover accommodations when working 60+ miles from residence. $40 per day, per diem for meals and incidentals.

$20-$24 depending on Experience

Skilled/Craft Carpenter
Reports To: Project Superintendent

Well established General Contractor looking for skilled/craft carpenters with a strong work ethic that are looking for a long-term employment position with growth potential. Applicants must be dependable with reliable transportation.
Duties and abilities required, but not limited to:

Build wooded structures, such as stairs, concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to blueprints, or oral instructions, & lays out and installs partitions & cabinet work.
Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
Examine blueprints, sketches or building plans for to determine material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
Know and understand how to select, load, and haul job material to work site.
Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using lines or grades.
Measure boards, timbers, or plywood using square, measuring tape and ruler and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber. Shape materials to required sizes using saws, chisels, and planes.
Verify accuracy of structure with transit, plumb bob, square and level.
Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable, wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines or power tools.
Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms.
Brace forms in place w/ timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
Erect frame work for structures and lays sub-flooring.
Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams.
Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, & gangways.
Construct forms, chutes, and aligns form panels for pouring concrete and grout.
Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, weather stripping interior & exterior trim & finished hardware.
Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings. Sets and braces anchor bolts.
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment.
Ability to tie rebar.
Operation of electric and pneumatic tools.
May rig materials.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Follow established rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Ensure all duties are performed with established quality standards and best practices.
Identify and rectify job hazards on an immediate basis.
Responsible for observing & complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Requirements:

A high school diploma or at least 3 years of on-the-job experience.
Familiarity with construction means and methods.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Responds well to time constraints and generally works at a brisk pace.
Must be dependable with reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel up to 250 miles.
Pass drug/chemical screening.
