We are currently seeking a DC Power- Service Tech 4
for an opportunity within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Gastonia, NC with the ability to travel to various client sites throughout the state.
Position Summary
Serving the Telecommunications, Data Centers and Utilities sectors, this position is vital in ensuring customers’ uninterrupted critical power via batteries, installation services, monitoring, and maintenance.
Essential Functions
- Display strong leadership and initiative.
- Perform assessments of all DC Power work to ensure quality.
- Communicate progress with Customer and Internal Team.
- Accurately troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on critical systems such as batteries, and DC equipment
- Install various types of rectifiers, power distribution equipment, battery monitoring equipment, DC systems and other electrical components.
- DC Battery installation and service.
- Perform Hot Work, keeping site live while replacing equipment or transferring loads.
- Install and remove temporary batteries.
- Work with sensitive equipment such as PIM gear and fiber.
- Work with coax and coax connectors.
- Record, maintain service records and help analyze data to provide feedback to customer and internal groups on equipment status and needs.
- Follow Methods of Procedures for all job received; document and communicate required changes
- DC cabling, placement, protection and securing
- Complete alarm systems.
- Working both independently and with others in an ever-changing environment
- Applying problem solving skills to identifying and resolving issues at hand
- Professionally interact with customer’s calls and queries to troubleshoot and diagnose
- Respond with appropriate level of urgency to critical situations and emergency outages.
- Provide training to lesser experienced technicians
Knowledge – Skills – Abilities
- Computer Skills; Ability to work within Excel and various computer related tasks.
- 3+ Years similar work within DC Power and / or electrical industry
- Solid understanding of DC cable and bus ratings.
- Solid understanding of DC Breaker sizing.
- Solid understanding of critical services and facilities
- Skilled in operation of test equipment and tools such as digital multimeters, and battery test equipment
- Ability to travel throughout the week, often overnight; emergency deployment notice is minimal
- Ability to attain and retain Approved Driver status as defined by the Company
- Must possess a valid, unexpired and unrestricted driver's license, along with a clean motor vehicle record
- Must possess a current DOT medical clearance or attain prior to hire; class A or B CDL desirable
- Ability to perform work in various types of inclement weather and conditions; comfortable working at remote and difficult to reach sites
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, twist and reach on a regular basis
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs unassisted on a regular basis; and up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Forklift authorization is desirable
Schedule: Typical day will run from 8am to 5-5:30pm but will require ability to work nights to complete the job, work OT and weekends as needed.
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Location Type: On-Site (requires overnight travel)
Pay range: $27-30/hr
*Per diem offered when traveling overnight. *
