Overview
Immediate seeking experienced and well-rounded Operations Manager for our client's location in Harrison, OH.
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shop's operations, including budgets, production, personnel management, quality control, and safety adherence.
Summary/Objectives:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to lead our custom fabrication shop specializing in hydraulic lifting equipment, precision machining of parts, and equipment frame fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in fabrication and machining processes, and a keen focus on Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure efficient and effective shop operations.
Plan, schedule, and monitor production activities to meet customer demands while maintaining high-quality standards.
Optimize workflow and resource allocation to enhance productivity and reduce turnaround times.
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of fabricators, machinists, technicians, and support staff.
Foster a collaborative and cohesive work environment, encouraging skill development and cross-training among team members.
Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of custom fabrication processes, machining techniques, and equipment frame assembly.
Provide technical guidance to resolve complex fabrication challenges and ensure precision in manufacturing.
Experience with Hydraulic and Electric Lifting Equipment
Understanding of Crane and Rolling Equipment Controls
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure all fabricated components meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications.
Develop and enforce inspection protocols to identify defects and ensure consistent product excellence.
Coordinate with third-party inspectors and fulfill associated document control requirements.
Safety Compliance:
Uphold HSE values, policies, and procedures.
Foster a culture of Safety with staff.
Work cross-departmentally with Safety Proctors throughout the organization.
Resource Management:
Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for seamless production.
Collaborate with procurement to source materials at competitive prices without compromising on quality.
Estimating and Cost Control:
Lead the estimation process for new projects, considering materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Analyze project scope and specifications to provide accurate cost estimates.
Monitor project budgets and expenses, implementing cost-saving measures where applicable.
Customer Engagement:
Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand client requirements and expectations.
Provide technical expertise to support the sales process and ensure accurate quoting and project feasibility assessments.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proven experience (10+ years) in custom fabrication or machining management.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and lead a diverse team.
In-depth knowledge of hydraulic lifting equipment, machining processes, and fabrication.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and CAD/CAM software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
