Direct Hire Opportunity! Tool & Die Repair Technician for an exciting new opportunity in Anderson, SC!

Must have experience with Progressive Dies

Responsibilities Include:
• Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair single bit and progressive dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures.
• Studies specifications, blueprints, sketches, models, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
• Sets up and operates shop equipment including lathes and grinder to machine parts; verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
• Correctly disassemble, repair and reassemble progressive stamping dies.
• Smooth flat and contoured surfaces; fits and assembles parts together and into assembled tools and dies.
• Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, and understands basic metallurgy
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures; recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
• Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools; draws or sketches design of product.
• Assists in instructing apprentice personnel

Requirements Include:
• High School Diploma minimum
• 5+ Years of experience with tool & die repair in a progressive metal stamping or closely related metal fabrication environment
• Accredited journeyman’s tool maker certificate
• Must possess basic Tool & Die measuring tools, hand tools and tool box
• Good analytical and metal stamping troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to move up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to obtain industrial powered lift truck license and operate 10 ton overhead crane.

Skills required:
• Troubleshooting skills for progressive dies
• Demonstrated understanding of cutting clearances, Ready Benders, Aerial Cams, Filler Cams, Die Timing.
• Ability to work with American SAE and Metric
• Must possess leadership skills and a willingness to train others
