Equipment Field Technician

Shift: Day Shift
Location: Shop-Based with Regional Travel

A North American leader in Construction Site Services, Product Distribution, and Equipment Rental is seeking an Equipment Field Service Technician to support its rental fleet through equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. This position is based out of the Harrison, OH facility and includes both shop work and field service responsibilities.

Position Summary

The Equipment Field Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of company-owned and customer-owned equipment. Work is performed both in the shop and at customer job sites.

Equipment serviced includes:

  • Aerial lifts
  • Forklifts
  • Air compressors
  • Generators
  • Welding equipment
  • Other industrial and construction-related equipment

Travel is generally local to regional within a 200-mile radius, with occasional overnight travel based on business needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and complex repairs on customer-owned and company-owned equipment in both shop and field environments.
  • Respond to service calls and provide onsite troubleshooting and repairs at customer and project locations.
  • Complete all required documentation, including:
    • Work orders
    • Parts requests
    • Billing information
    • Warranty documentation
  • Assist fellow technicians with advanced troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment status, repair recommendations, and service needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and service vehicle.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support and comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Plan and prioritize work assignments effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Technical Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with:
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pneumatic systems
    • Electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Equipment manuals
    • Technical schematics
    • Blueprints
  • Minimum of five years of combined education and related equipment repair experience.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to independently diagnose and repair equipment issues.

Equipment Experience

Experience servicing and repairing equipment such as:

  • Aerial lifts
  • Forklifts
  • Air compressors
  • Welding machines
  • Generators
  • General industrial and construction equipment

Professional Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with:
    • Customers
    • Management
    • Coworkers
    • Vendors
  • Professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to assist with training and mentoring other technicians.

Licensing & Physical Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to meet non-CDL driver requirements, including:
    • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
    • Driver physical
    • Road test
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including:
    • Lifting and carrying equipment
    • Climbing
    • Extended periods of standing
    • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Schedule & Travel

  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel regionally and stay overnight occasionally.

Tools

  • Must provide personal basic hand tools.
  • Larger specialty tools and equipment are supplied by the company.
