The position of Warehouse Assistant is responsible for certain aspects of warehouse functions including but not limited to receiving, storing, handling, shipping and preparing of products for shipments while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly fashion. This position requires equal parts of physical labor and computer data entry/email correspondence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• · Receives material coming into the building by vendors, customers, or other warehouses accurately and promptly.
• · Verifies the quantity and description of materials received by checking merchandise against the packing list.
• · Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items. Appropriately report/record any discrepancies.
• · Log sample information into an online website when received and label properly.
• · Accurately place materials on shelves, racks or other designated storage areas in an orderly manner.
• · Distribute samples to internal departments
• · Pull, review and package samples up to be shipped out.
• · Preparation of all shipping documentation for both domestic and international
• · Coordinate pallet pick-up and delivery of tradeshow shipments.
• · Review all orders to determine if they were picked correctly.
• · Ensure warehouse/equipment is maintained on a regular basis.
• · Safely operate all the necessary equipment in work area.
• · To accurately identify and count samples according to online system
• · Load/unload pallets/crates from trucks
Competencies:
• · Be able to identify product by size, type, style, color or product code.
• · Solid reading skills – must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked.
• · Basic math skills and reasoning skills.
• · Forklift experience preferred
• · Ability to understand and execute instructions efficiently
• · General understanding of the warehouse and footprint
• · Operate inventory control equipment, i.e., bar-coding equipment, handheld devices
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous warehouse and distribution experience
• Experience with MS Office a plus
• Basic computer skills mandatory
• International shipping knowledge a plus
