Job Title: Traction Power Supervisor
Industry: Commuter Rail Operations
Reports to: Traction Power Manager

Position Summary:
The Traction Power Supervisor is a front-line leader responsible for overseeing electrical and mechanical maintenance activities within the commuter rail Traction Power System. This role includes direct supervision of Traction Power Technicians, ensuring safety and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, motivate, and train staff through coaching, counseling, and clear expectations.
  • Oversee inspection and maintenance of the Traction Electrification System (TES), including substations, feeders, Overhead Catenary System (OCS), and return circuits.
  • Promote safety awareness and enforce adherence to safety procedures.
  • Manage documentation of inspections, test results, labor, and materials in the Maintenance Management System.
  • Ensure efficient and high-quality execution of routine inspections and testing.
  • Respond to emergencies or severe weather events affecting the TES, coordinate with emergency teams and implement temporary solutions.
  • Monitor equipment installations and testing, reporting deficiencies.
  • Develop testing procedures and direct technicians in testing control apparatuses and equipment.
  • Participate in accident/incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure availability of necessary supplies, parts, and tools.
  • Create and maintain written procedures for inspections and maintenance.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including attending job fairs and interviewing candidates.
  • Stay informed of all relevant rules, regulations, procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in high voltage feeder distribution systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of railroad operating practices and train control systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Availability to work nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work at heights exceeding 6 feet.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening, and comply with applicable policies.
