Job Title: Environmental Engineer
Location: Spartanburg, SC

They are one of the world’s leading petrochemicals producers with a presence in 33 countries, with 124 manufacturing facilities, and 24,000 employees.

Located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The site manufactures and supplies PET polymers in resin and fiber form for various markets and applications. Packaging resins are used in various food and drinks markets. Specialty polymer resins are mainly used in industrial applications to produce a variety of products including fiber, geo-textile, monofilament, medical, film and others. Special nonwovens provide fiber in staple and tow forms for various applications including hygiene, medical care, automotive, insulation, apparel, filtration, and construction.

Environmental Engineer – Job Description
  • Ensure new waste streams are properly profiled and review existing profiles annually
  • Arrange non-hazardous waste shipments/manifests
  • Arrange Universal waste shipments/manifests
  • Arrange hazardous waste shipments/ manifests within 90 days
  • Prepare Quarterly Hazardous Waste Reports
  • Oversee Lab Packs
  • Conduct waste vendor audits as scheduled
  • Minimize waste thru reuse/inappropriate disposal                                                                                                 
  • Lead site recycling efforts                                                                                                                              
  • Coordinate “Operation Clean Sweep” operations                         
  • Ensure DHEC and EPA forms and applications are submitted on time
  • Track and submit waste related sustainability data
  • Complete Monthly/Quarterly/Annual DMR reports
  • Coordinate annual acute toxicity testing and macroinvertebrate testing
  • Manage Auriga Waste Index with DHEC
  • Conduct all business activities lawfully and with integrity. Raise issues or concerns through appropriate supervision. Lead by example.
  • Stay current on regulatory developments in program areas
  • Develop and implement plant policies and programs to ensure site compliance with regulations.
  • Audit plant areas to ensure compliance with regulations and plant policies.
  • Develop, review, and submit all required reports on time to the required agency.

Required Skills/Education:
  • BS in environmental science or related field
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, and climb ladders
  • Experience in managing solid/liquid hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in an industrial environment
  • Ability to understand environmental regulations and manage site processes to ensure compliance
