Maintenance Shop Supervisor
This position will report to the Plant Engineer and will be responsible for supervising about 12 electrical/maintenance associates.
The main requirements are:
- A 2 year associates degree in mechatronics or equivalent
- Experience in maintenance
- Experience in supervision
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Shop Leader
Reports to: Engineering Services Manager
Department: Engineering Services
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Assign priorities each day as to how shop personnel will best spend their time in order to maximize the efficiency of the plant.
Review and approve work orders.
Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Oversee routine maintenance and repair of all equipment. Keep track of planned maintenance activities and make adjustments according to production schedules.
Work closely with the senior production manager, process improvement manager, technologist and team leaders to coordinate all maintenance activities.
Educate and develop all associates through on the job and in-class training/education and direct supervision. Recommend further education as needed to increase the proficiency of shop personnel.
Keep track of performance of individual shop associates for the Engineering Services Manager to include covering vacations and absences.
Arrange contract repairs when work cannot be performed in house, coordinate with outside contractors as necessary.
Assist the Engineering Services Manager in following the budget established for the year. Assure effectiveness and efficient use of personnel, materials, facilities and time.
Responsible for responding, in a timely manner, to after hour calls as necessary.
Continuously evaluation work procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of of overall operations.
Repair both mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
Evaluate breakdowns to determine root cause. Apply root cause to PM process to prevent future breakdowns.
Evaluate spare part consumption. Adjust spare part quantities to insure minimal down time and proper part supply.
Audit preventative maintenance work.
Any other items deemed necessary
Safety:
Maintain safe work conditions within the shop; identify and correct possible safety hazards throughout the plant, verify that shop personnel are using proper PPE and following all safety rules.
Operate all tools, equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report conditions that are not correctable to the Engineering Services Manager.
Direct the upkeep and appearance of the shop area.
Respond quickly to safety hazards identified by all plant associates.
Required 2 year Microprocessor Degree or equivalent
4 years supervisory experience within field
5 years experience as a electrical technician trouble shooting drives, PLC's etc.
Pay Rate $28.13 - $34.44 based on experience.
