We are currently seeking candidates for a new career opportunity with a growing company here in the Ridgeville area. We are interviewing candidates to be considered for Furnace Operator positions. The Furnace tender position is responsible for the safe operation of all metal melting operations. Please read the job description below and apply today with an updated resume for consideration!

Deliver molten aluminum via tow motor and bull ladle to specific furnaces.
Maintain safety of personnel and equipment at all times. Maintain quality checks for proper metal handling as required.
Maintain equipment and procedures as directed.
Accountable for performing tasks to support and maintain die cast operations.

Specific items:
1. Safety
• Wear assigned PPE for specified duties ( Hat, ear plugs, glasses, gloves, jacket, spats, leggings, sleeves, etc )
• Adhere to LOTO procedures
• Know emergency procedures, equipment operations and locations
• Maintain 5S
• Know and exhibit safe molten metal tow motor skills
• Know and exhibit safe molten aluminum handling
2. Quality
• Know, understand and demonstrate aluminum alloy requirements
• Operate assigned quality checks and equipment
• Perform required quality checks according to instructions maintain SPC logs, metal certifications
• Record required quality documentations as per control plans
3. Procedures
• Maintain Personal protection practices
• Follow work instructions and requirements
• Follow safe metal handling practices
• Operate tow motor with bull ladle
• Keep all furnaces filled and supporting production cast department
• Load ingot and scrap into furnaces as required
• Tap molten metal
• Degas molten metal
• Use proper flux and cleaning agents
• Clean furnaces, ladles , tools and department as required each shift
• Once week, deep clean drag bottoms,
• Maintain 5S, sweep, sort, sustain department efficiencies
• Change pumps, filters and consumables as required
• Sort parts/scrap/ segregate scrap into correct dunnage as required
• Report any quality defects
• Perform any PM as directed
4. Documentation
• Maintain daily work log, SPC. Maintenance, load charts, scrap records
• Maintain and assist in aluminum inventory
• Maintain incoming ingot, scrap, dross logs/inventory as required
• Understand and manage multiple alloys
5. Other
• Inform Supervisor of any items that might affect operations
• Report any safety items
• Lift up to 60 lbs
• Physically able to bend, step, climb, lift, rotate, stand for long periods of time
• Work in warm environment
• Work with minimum supervision
• Work safely with molten metal and hot surfaces
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Safely drive and execute tow motor knowledge and situational awareness.
